Pathways from school to tertiary education exist in the following study areas.
A Pathway is a learning or study plan which provides access to flexible options as a means of attaining your desired learning outcome while considering your personal skills and experience. Through the creation of defined pathways which recognise learning already achieved, students have the flexibility to move from course to course and from institution to institution to achieve their ultimate career outcome.
Traditionally most parents and students make the assumption that the only access to a University course and subsequent qualification is through obtaining a good ENTER score in VCE.
However, many local students are finding that there are alternative pathways to a tertiary qualification and the opportunity to achieve the career that they dreamt about.
Study Pathways between different education providers are not new but only now are we seeing the products of these arrangements and the formalisation of specific credits for studies already undertaken.
The Gippsland Education Precinct, which has as its partners, four education providers- Monash University Gippsland, GippsTAFE, Kurnai College and Apprenticeships Group Australia, is facilitating this process by negotiating arrangements between Monash and GippsTAFE to ensure that students are able to determine with clarity and certainty where a particular Diploma course will lead in terms of University studies at Monash Gippsland.
Formal assessment of course material and agreement between respective faculties is leading to signed agreements specifying how many credits a particular TAFE diploma course will be granted towards a specific allied degree course at the University.
